Boston Queen Anne
An early Queen Anne-era highboy from the Boston area, this example continued the use of figured veneer and evenly spaced brasses from the earlier William and Mary period. The surface features bookmatched walnut burl drawer fronts and case sides with walnut crossbanding and holly string inlays. The upper and lower center drawers have inlaid holly fans. The base stands on cabriole legs with scrolled Spanish feet. The design is punctuated with gilded spiral finials and acorn drops.
As with all Boston highboys, the drawers and upper case are dovetailed, while the base is of mortise-and-tenon construction.
